Julie-Christina Picher

Julie-Christina Picher, artiste peintre et première scénographe atikamekw au Québec, a terminé ses études collégiales en arts plastiques en 2005. En 2011, elle obtient son diplôme en scénographie (option théâtre) au Collège Lionel-Groulx. Depuis, elle a collaboré à plus d’une vingtaine de pièces de théâtre, dont cinq avec les Productions Ondinnok. Outre le théâtre et la peinture, elle œuvre aussi pour le cinéma québécois. Plus particulièrement, les films réalisés et produits par François Delisle font partie de son implication au sein du département artistique et organisationnel pour le cinéma indépendant. En 2015, elle quitte la grande ville pour s’établir sur la Côte-Nord, endroit parfait pour élever son premier enfant; elle y fait grandir non seulement ses fils, mais également son inspiration pour une nouvelle série de peintures grand format. Les projets en cinéma et en théâtre ne cessent d’occuper son temps et ses idées. Malgré la pandémie, le travail et les inspirations pour ces projets lui permettent de garder son espoir et ses ambitions pour le futur. Chose certaine, cette femme dynamique n’est pas au bout de ses projets!

Julie-Christina Picher, painter and the first Atikamekw set designer in Québec, completed her college studies in visual arts in 2005. In 2011, she earned her diploma in set design (theatre stream) from Collège Lionel-Groulx. Since then, she has collaborated on over twenty theatre productions, including five with Ondinnok Productions. In addition to working in theatre and painting, she also works in the Québec film industry, most notably with films directed and produced by François Delisle. Her work with Delisle marks part of her involvement in the artistic and organizational department for independent cinema. In 2015, Picher left the city to settle in the Côte-Nord region, an ideal place to raise her first child. It was here that she not only nurtured her sons, but also found inspiration for a new series of large-format paintings. Projects in cinema and theatre continue to occupy her time and ideas. Despite the pandemic, her work and the inspirations for these projects keep her hopeful and ambitious about the future. One thing is certain: this dynamic woman is far from done with her projects!
