Rocky Ward

Je suis mère de trois enfants adultes et grand-mère de trois garçons et trois filles. Je suis travailleuse sociale, militante de Stride au John Humphrey Centre et rédactrice d’évaluations en milieu familial pour les services à l’enfance. Je suis employée par les Native Counselling Services of Alberta depuis plus de vingt-quatre ans. Je suis gestionnaire du programme Indian Residential Schools Health Support, du MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+ et du Indian Day Schools Program. J’aime penser que je suis une cheerleader pour toutes les personnes ayant passé par les pensionnats, les externats, ainsi que pour les personnes MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+. Je crois que je peux faire une différence dans leur vie, en reconnaissant que leurs luttes sont réelles et en les aidant à trouver des forces, du soutien et de l’espace. Je crois fermement qu’elles sont les expertes de leur propre vie; nous devons simplement faire preuve de patience, ne pas porter de jugement et les aider à passer à travers le processus dont elles ont besoin.

I am a mother of three adult children, grandmother to three boys and three girls. I am a Social Worker, a Stride Advocate with John Humphrey Centre and a Home Study Writer for Children Services. I have been employed through Native Counselling Services of Alberta for over twenty-four years. I am the Program Manager of Indian Residential Schools Health Support Program, as well as MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+, and the Indian Day Schools Program. I like to think that I am a cheerleader for all the IRS, Day School and MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals. I believe that I can make a difference in their lives, by being there for them and validating their struggles are real, and helping them find their strengths, their supports, and finding their space. I am of the firm belief that the clients are the experts in their own lives, we just need to be patient, non-judgmental and help them work through whatever process they need to.
